Beenie Man: His United States Visa and A Celebration

Tuesday, August 2, 2011

Last week, Beenie Man received his visa to travel to the U.S. and promoters Irish and Chin are throwing him a celebration fit for a king....a Dancehall king that is! Set for Saturday, August, 20 in Amazura, Irish and Chin's spectacular fete for Beenie Man will serve as a welcome back and earthstrong celebration wrapped in one. Moreover, it's a way for Dancehall's top promotions team to formally say thank you to the "King of the Dancehall" for his hard work in the industry and reliable support of the Irish and Chin brand over the years.

Guaranteed to be a star-studded affair that lives up to the Irish and Chin standard, "Beenie Man Birthday Bash" will be filled with great music, excitement and a slew of celebrity guests. In addition to extending an invitation to the entertainer's scores of die hard fans in the New York tri-state area, Irish and Chin has confirmed the attendance of some of Beenie's closest friends, industry players and others who have played a role in his U.S. career. This birthday bash will not feature a performance by the DJ, as he has not yet received a work visa. Never-the-less, patrons should anticipate thrilling performances from special guests.

"Beenie Man is one of the few artists that has supported us through the ups and downs of the Dancehall entertainment industry," says Garfield "Chin" Bourne of Irish and Chin. "Whether it's an event in New York or one in Japan, the ace DJ has always been ready to go....this gathering will serve as a token of my appreciation for Beenie's support."

"Since we announced the 'Beenie Man Birthday Bash' this weekend, the level of excitement has been overwhelming....people in New York really miss him, so the anticipation for this event is high," says Ronald Fraser, Events Manager, Irish and Chin.

For the first time in more than two years, Dancehall fans in the New York tri-state area will be granted a chance to get up close and personal with the "King of the Dancehall" himself. To hear the radio ad and learn more about the event, visit http://www.irishandchin.com.

D'Angel Said To Beenie Man "Yes Mi Know"?

Saturday, July 2, 2011

(Rain PR)-Dancehall's first lady D'Angel is showing off her goods on The Runway - her lyrical goods that is. D'Angel's "Yes Mi Know" is one of the stand-out tracks on A-Team Music's Reggae-fusion Dance album The Runway. Featuring her husband, Dancehall King Beenie Man, "Yes Mi Know" is a sassy nod to independent women that know their worth. The Runway, the A-Team's first full-length album released earlier this month, is available on iTunes and all digital outlets.

The Runway, is a multi-layered project that fuses various forms of Reggae, Dancehall, Pop, Funk, Rhythm & Blues, and Gospel over a pulsating Dance groove. The A-Team, best known for producing Black Rob's come-back single "Ventilation," and Mr. Vegas's hit "Must Come A Road," crafted The Runway to reflect the emotional garb that we wear day to day. On "Yes Mi Know," D'Angel & Beenie Man prance down The Runway wearing an air of confidence and an avante garde suit of entitlement.

"I was vibing to The Runway rhythm, which has a fun and sassy beat, coming up with different lyrics, when Moses [Beenie Man] started chiming in with 'yes mi know,' and everything fell into place," says Michelle "D-Angel" Downer-Davis on how she came up with the concept for the single.

"There is a lot of really good female talent in Reggae and Dancehall right now and D'Angel is definitely at the front of the line in terms of deejays," says A-Team CEO and The Runway executive producer Stanley 'Rellee' Hayden. "D'Angel brings her own unique flavor to the album. Coupled with Beenie Man's energy, I'm not surprised that 'Yes Mi Know' is one of the popular tracks on the album."

D'Angel scored her break-out single "Downtown Girl Living Uptown" in 2005. Since then she has scored several hits including "One Man" featuring Beenie Man, "Baby Father" with Vybz Kartel, "Blaze," and "Stronger."

BUZz: CAMAR RELEASE NEW VIDEO-JAMAICAN PARTY

Monday, July 26, 2010

Just in the nick of time, Beenie Man & Camar releases a hot new music video which was premiered on Entertainment Report (ER) on TVJ on Friday July 21, 2010. The video delivers a fresh & sizzling vibe that is hot & ready for the ATI / DREAM / PARADISE Weekend Celebrations to take place in Negril during the Emancipation & Independence weekends in Jamaica.

It's a "Jamaican Party" where Beenie Man & Camar sings about the Jamaican lifestyle of partying, from the beach, to the clubs, to the streets, "everyday is a holiday". Produced by Mario C & R. Smith of 357 Records, video directed by Janelle Dyer and edited by Willo, the video was a one day shoot at Waves Beach in Hellshire, Portmore and the exciting vibe of the song is clearly portrayed in the video.

The video uses beautiful & bright colors with lots of summer time activity such as girls in bikinis on the beach, beach volleyball and dominoes to name a few which are all favorite Jamaican past time activities. The talented Slip-N-Slide Records singer Camar who has exciting releases coming soon from Jam 2 Productions, will host the Miss Summer Body competition in Negril during the Paradise Weekend from August 5 to 8 at the Hedonism II Resort, displays his own summer body in the video while Beenie Man sings & displays his expensive "bling" and vehicle.

Overall, it is a wonderful video and vibe which Beenie Man ends with his single "Dancehall Nuh Dead yet" which is also produced by Mario C & R. Smith of 357 Records. The King of the Dancehall deejays about the state of the dancehall today, and despite his inability to recognize the beats these days, Dancehall is not dead as the likes of himself, Bounty Killer & Shabba Ranks to name a few are still alive and well.

Janelle Dyer and her team did an excellent job on this project and we look forward to more exciting jobs from her, but for now, all eyes are on Beenie Man & Camar "Jamaican Party / Dancehall Nuh Dead Yet" music video.

Irish & Chin get ready to Reeewind

Monday, September 21, 2009

The vibes surrounding Irish and Chin's "Reeewind," a genuine "Rub-a-dub" themed event, have been incredible. The streets are talking about this epic affair set to go down on Saturday, October 3 at Amazura in Queens, New York. And lately there has been a perpetual argument brewing of which of these former rivals, Beenie Man or Capleton, will perform better. The last time the two met in "Reeewind's" very same venue, the event erupted into a friendly lyrical showdown, which had patrons on their toes until the wee hours of the morning.

While many fans have pegged "Reeewind" as a follow-up to New York's last encounter of Beenie Man and Capleton, things may not be so simple. This time around, rather than relying on their entire catalogue of hits, the deejays will only have the option of using cultural lyrics. Additionally, only "Rub-a-dub" riddims will be played. Never-the-less, both artists are destined to shine.
Beenie Man, who has been deejaying on sound systems since he has 10 years old, boasts an experience that most current artists could never imagine. He has performed on some of the industry's best "Rub-a-dub" sounds alongside some of Reggae music's biggest names, shining among them all. Although this "King of the Dancehall" has a limited catalog of cultural songs, he is over the top with freestyle lyrics. Truly a favorite among all generations, Beenie Man can chat over any riddim flawlessly.
By all means, Capleton is also a living legend. Capleton's major strength lies in his huge catalogue of cultural songs. Handpicked for this event because of this accolade, Capleton is a heavyhitter. Spending some of his early career on the African Star sound system, "The Fire Man" has a knack and feel for this style event. With a huge fanbase and craft of riding riddims in tow, Capleton will be a force to reckoned with.
Although this event has not been billed, nor promoted as a competition, enthusiasts are waiting to see which of the two deejays will better handle the one-and-only King Stur Gav. According to fans, "Reeewind" is one of the most highly anticipated Dancehall events to hit New York in years. Not only are fans raving about Beenie Man and Capleton's involvement, they are also in a frenzy over the rest of the billing including U-Roy, Brigadier Jerry, Charlie Chaplin, General Trees, Luciano and Mighty Crown. The official countdown to "Reeewind" is underway.
No true Reggae Dancehall or Sound System fan should miss this once-in-a-lifetime event. Irish and Chin is famous for staging reputable, landmark events of this nature in the Tri-State area. Notably, this is the first time that Stur Gav will feature modern day artists. Irish and Chin put "Reeewind" together to bring back the vibes of yesterday and to converge young and old for a memorable night.

Cruz-in' in Da Hills of St. Elizabeth

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

St. Elizabeth, JA: Junction, the once bustling business center of Jamaica's second largest parish, will now be known as the area's entertainment center when the 'King of the Dancehall' Beenie Man, Dancehall's 'rebelution' leader Tanya Stephens, Lover's Rock crooner Anthony Cruz, and Roots chanter Prestige cruise through St. Elizabeth's rolling country-side for Cruz-in' in Da Hills on December 19th. Instead of taking the show to 'town' (Kingston) or one of the other popular entertainment locations throughout the island, New York-based Triple T Production opts to kick-off the island's Holiday entertainment festivities against the backdrop of Jamaica's naturally beautiful rural landscape, and hopes to jumpstart activity in St. Elizabeth's struggling business epicenter.

Cruz-in' in Da Hills promises to be the featured holiday event in St. Elizabeth, boasting a diverse line up of Island's talents, from the up-tempo anthems of Grammy-winning internationally recognized Dancehall deejay Beenie Man, to the soulful spoken word influenced tunes of sing-jay Tanya Stephens. Cruz-in' in Da Hills also marks the birthday of silky-sweet singer Anthony Cruz. The three entertainers, along with Roots soldier Prestige, will make their way to Junction, an area that has seen a decline in economic and social activity in recent years.

"Junction is like 'town' to St. Elizabeth, it's a central area, close to Black River," states Tasz Smith, CEO of Triple T Production, whose family hails from St. Elizabeth and neighboring parish Manchester. "Junction used to be the place where everyone in the surrounding areas came for business, or church, or social activities-it is like a connecting point."

Historically, St. Elizabeth, named for the wife of Jamaica's first English Governor, was one of Jamaica's most prosperous parishes, with Black River becoming an important seaport for shipping sugar and molasses, and becoming the center of the logging trade. In the 1960's, St. Elizabeth became a major producer of bauxite and aluminum. Today, the parish is a popular tourist destination, with some of the island's most beautiful tourist attractions like Treasure Beach, the Black River Safari, YS River Falls, Bamboo Avenue, and the Appleton Rum Distillery. St. Elizabeth is also the home of Little Ochi, an area in Alligator Pond noted for its excellent seafood.

While Junction is far from a tourist hot spot, Junction is a key attraction to the residents of St. Elizabeth, who find it necessary to visit the area regularly for shopping, vending, socializing, and to conduct business. Junction, unlike many other places in Jamaica, has also remained relatively crime free, with many houses and stores without burglar bars or grills, an uncommon phenomenon in today's society.

"Junction is a cozy town, and the people are very close-knit and welcoming," states Smith. "We want Cruz-in' In Da Hills to bring back a vibe to Junction-to re-energize the area."

Cruz-in' In Da Hills featuring Beenie Man, Tanya Stephens, Anthony Cruz and Prestige will be held on Saturday, December 19th in Junction, St. Elizabeth.
