This Saturday July 24, 2010, the Digicel stage at the annual festival will come to life whenever the highly fashionable Raine Seville steps on to perform. Raine is not your typical Reggae / Dancehall songstress as she has proven over the years as she grows from strength to strength that she is intent on inflicting her own flair & style into the music while writing, singing, dancing & ofcourse... dressing. Raine Seville: Lasting Impression on US MEDIA

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Singing sensation Raine Seville recently returned to Jamaica after a whirlwind two weeks of promotion in New York, USA.

DASECA's first lady found herself in the 'Big Apple' to support fellow DASECA-member Serani at the launch of his debut album No Games at the SOB club in New York. While there the singer made great strides when she met key figures in the US entertainment scene. The singer soon after hit the streets and did a number of interviews with the US media, leaving a lasting impression in the minds of many.

Raine elaborated on her time there saying, "Wow it was an amazing trip, one of my first interviews was with Tempo. They did a mini artiste feature with me so that people could get more familiar with Raine Seville. I was also the host of an episode of their weekly 'Cross Caribbean Countdown' - where they show the top ten hottest videos from the Caribbean - my video Slippery When Wet being one of the ten. The interviewer was pleased to tell me how honored he was to meet me because when he first saw my videos who was like, 'who is this girl? She is amazing; I love her videos'."

Raine will be performing at their 'Tempo Turns 4' celebration in Grenada this December.

Next up on Raine's list while overseas, was an appearance on diva Nikki Z's 'Caribbean Vibes' show on Irie Jamz as a part of her new artiste feature. "I also went over to New Jersey for an interview on 'Road Block Radio' where I was interviewed by Chiney K. That interview was great; I got the opportunity to promote some new songs like Break Away along with the known ones like Drive Me Crazy and Belly Wine. The feedback was great so many people called in complimenting me on my voice, my videos and motivating me to keep focused," Raine explained.

From there it was on to Royale Radio with well-known Brooklyn disc jock DJ Alley Cat; it was quite the experience for the singer. She said, "I was very impressed with him because usually I give all DJs a copy of my promo CD but when I saw his play list he already had every Raine Seville track. He was like 'girl I don't need your CD I got all your songs, I'm a big fan'. He started out the interview by saying, 'the first time I heard her voice on Drive Me Crazy I immediately fell in love. I called Johnny Wonder up and asked him who is this girl her voice is amazing', and he has been following my career ever since."

Other interviews included Right Vibes Radio and an all access feature on Carivibez.tv.

The singer also managed to impress Alicia Keys' manager, Jeff Robinson after they met. In fact, Robinson's music partner, Sean Lashley was ready to voice the singer. However, because of time constraints, the singer returned to the island, but will be back in New York to voice and do even more press.

After a successful year, Raine has no intentions of slowing down - she has a slew of new material which will be released this Christmas and for the new year. One such single, is the new, Break Away on Chimney Records' 'World Premiere' rhythm. Also coming soon is her steamy collaboration with Tony Matterhorn called Love You're Looking For, which shows a raunchier side of the singer.

Also this Christmas, singjay Bugle and Raine will be releasing their highly-anticipated duet entitled Reserve, which is produced by their DASECA camp. A video for the song will be shot shortly after and will be directed by famed local producer Jay Will. In January 2010 also expect a collaboration with one of Reggae's hottest artistes, Konshens, in addition to as songs produced by ZJ Sparks, Leftside, DASECA and DJ Nicco, on his 'Daredevil' rhythm.

  • Raine has also been nominated for 'Best Female Video' for her Slippery When Wet video at the 'Carivibez Video Web Awards'. So far Raine has a clear lead; but persons can vote for her by clicking here. Voting ends on December 24th. To get new single, Sign up here

    Raine Soaks Sumfest With Music!

    Sunday, August 2, 2009

It was a busy weekend for DASECA's first lady Raine Seville, who turned up the steam on her career with smashing performances and a banging new video.

Having only been in the business professionally for under a year, Ms. Seville has continued to show Jamaica that she has what it takes to make it big locally, and clear signs suggest success is in the making. The weekend started early for Raine who performed on the Digicel stage at Jagra's Reggae Sumfest on Thursday night. Her first appearance on Sumfest, Raine hit the stage at midnight looking on the huge Sumfest crowd that has been known to make and break artistes. Performing Drive Me Crazy and Belly Wine, by the time Raine performed Be Careful (Slippery When Wet), the crowd was singing along and enjoying her short yet spicy performance.

Overwhelmed by the experience Raine was at a loss of words saying, "I can't even explain the feeling, it was a whole new step in my career and I am so thankful. It was my first time performing with such a large crowd and hopefully next year the fans will get to me see me on the big stage and by then I will be even more prepared to give them a performance that will wow them."

By Friday night Raine was ready for the premiere of her latest raunchy video Be Careful on the Entertainment Report (ER). Produced by Leftside of Keep Left Records, Be Careful was directed by Scorpio 21 who also directed Raine's successful Belly Wine video. With choreography done by Shady Squad, photography by Chris Browne who has done videos for Rihanna among others, stunt scenes and a rain scene that is guaranteed to raise the temperature, Be Careful has been causing a buzz since its debut. Already the video has been uploaded to all the entertainment websites and according to Raine she has been getting praises for her sexy performance. She said, "everybody has been saying they are getting an International feel from the video, with some persons even commenting that it will be going straight to BET and MTV, which is what we all are hoping for."
Summer Bar Raage saw Raine performing on Saturday night at Akbar in New Kingston to top off her busy weekend. A memorable night because it was also the artiste's birthday, Raine shared the night with her family, her DASECA crew and of course her fans who appreciated her performance. Sharing the stage alongside the likes of Leftside, I-Shawna, Tony Matterhorn, Bugle, G Whizz and others Raine sang Drive Me Crazy and Belly Wine as the cameras were whipped out with fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the budding starlet.

There is only more to come for Raine Seville who this week will be premiering her new video on HYPE's 'Up and Live' on Monday and RE TV on Tuesday. She will also be performing on CVM's new show 'In The Dance' which will be aired on Friday July 31st. New music out now includes Too Late on TJ Records 'Alter Ego' rhythm, an upcoming collaboration with Tony Matterhorn called Love Your Looking For, which has already been getting write ups in the Daily Observer and Raine has three new singles coming out on DASECA's 'R6' rhythm, Can't Let You Go for Pay Day music, as well as a single on TJ's new dancehall rhythm called 'Swag.'

    DASECA: Raine Seville

    Tuesday, April 21, 2009

'Into each life some rain must fall', such is the music of upcoming singer/songwriter Raine Seville who continues to flood the industry with her unique sound.

Months after launching into the music business the fledging singer is building her reputation as a spunky and diverse artiste who is hitting the industry hard. The first lady of the talented DASECA camp has been heating up local television stations with her video for Belly Wine, which was produced by Chimney Records and directed by Scorpio 21. With talk of a possible International cross over for the song since its premiere on the Entertainment Report (ER) in March, thus far Belly Wine has positioned itself at #4 on CVM's 'Hitlist' and #2 on Hype TV's 'VTX Video Countdown' and promises to rise farther.

The song continues to do well on the airwaves as well as her single Slippery When Wet which was produced by Leftside of KeepLeft Records. Fans can also continue to expect more great videos in May with the release of the Slippery When Wet video which will also be directed by Scorpio 21. Not willing to disclose much about the shoot, Raine said to expect the particular brand of sex appeal that has brought her to the top. Also out currently is her single the emotionally powerful Really Over produced by newcomers I'm Loud Records. Raine explained her inspiration for the song saying, "I was listening to some heartbreak songs at the time and also the rhythm itself influenced the feel of the song. The song speaks of a girl who misses her ex-boyfriend and wonders if the possibilities lies of them working things out as she sees him as her significant other, the only one to make her whole." A video for the track will also be filmed in May by director Elloy with a new unique concept that captures the experience of the song. Raine recently wowed students on the recently concluded Coca Cola High School tour which saw her visiting schools such as Jamaica College, Clarendon College, Clancarthy High and others. Her first tour of any kind Raine as well as the students found it to be an unforgettable experience saying, "it was scary and wonderful at the same time and definitely a learning experience- I looked on it as my rehearsal ground for bigger performances and shows to come.

The reception from every school has been amazing, some students already knew me singing along to the songs when I performed. There were some students that were just getting to know me which I was thankful for as I was given the opportunity to increase my fan base. My mostmemorable moment was when one of the students at Exced cried when she saw me and told me I'm her favorite female dancehall artiste and she plans to get a tattoo exactly like and if I didn't mind. I really didn't know I already had that effect on people. Youngsters were asking my advice and while I believe I have a lot to learn onlookers see me already as an influential figure."
