Razz and Biggy Make Music With Daseca's Dexter Dap

Monday, August 22, 2011

Dancehall heavy-hitters Razz and Biggy, after playing music on the party scene and Dancehall Circuit for over 10 years, have sought to further expand their musical boundaries with several recent recordings. They have been featured on the smash cross-over hit “skip to my luu” with Serani and Ding Dong among others. They are now at it again with their latest recording of the DASECA produced track ‘Don Dadda’ with the label’s newest talent; Dexter Daps.

DASECA productions have been behind some of the biggest hits in dancehall/Reggae over the last decade. Their vibrant and energetic productions have allowed them to deliver cutting edge music that continues to find favor in the hearts and ears of enthusiasts the world over.

Razz & Biggy only recently added artiste to their multi-dimensional portfolio, while still pleasing audiences with their musical selections. So with one crowd favorite after another, the momentum is being continued with Don Dadda.

Dexta Daps is DASECA’s newest talent, with vocal strengths matched only by the industry’s elite; and being apart of one of the strongest camps in Jamaican Entertainment, he is poised for eminent success.

The infectious track – Don Dadda came about as a result of this combined effort. Since its release it has found favorable airplay on local and international radio stations, websites and among some of dancehall’s top selectors, including Coppershot’s Mathew Grey and Cutty who believe that “Don Dadda is one of the most promising songs coming out of the summer and going forward. The song has also gotten an enormous vote of confidence from former P.Diddy and Rihanna d.j- Max Glazer of Federation Sound. Glazer thinks “It is one of the wickedest songs right now”.

The track itself feels like a celebration, a celebration of good musical beats fused together into a spectacular rhythm, a celebration of artistic genius even. The track starts with a slightly comical shout ‘We Find It!’ a symbolic utterance, to artistes and producers alike who must have the talent and an ear for potential hits to produce a track such as the one that became Don Dadda, great fusion of energies from DASECA Productions, Razz & Biggy and Dexta Daps.

BUZZ: DASECA's THE GENESIS Riddim

Monday, March 15, 2010

Caribbean Lifestyle Media-In the beginning, authentic Dancehall ruled and the people had something dance to. In the beginning, Dancehall producers were strategic in how they released their projects. Daseca is doing just that with the latest Riddim release. Daseca is said to be taking a different approach with their latest project. Daseca-instead of flooding the marketplace with CDs and Free download links-this project will only be released to select few DJs. The entire project will be available via digital retail like Itunes on March 23.

At Caribbean Lifestyle Media we believe this makes sense, especially in a market where music is readily available. The incentives to purchase music is low, as a result the market suffers. We would have love to provide you with a sample. However, David Harrisingh (One Third of Daseca) provided us with this explanation "What has become the norm for Jamaican producers is to literally give away the music as soon as it is finished, "Email blasts, social networking sites, blogs, etc ensure the music ends up in the hands of any and everyone who wants it, and they don't have to pay for it. So while it creates a hype and give artists hit songs and generates shows and dub plate income for them, the producer has to pretty much wait on the few remaining labels who deal with Reggae to license a song here or there for a compilation. Whereas in the past labels would take the whole riddim from a producer, that has stopped because of poor sales and because our music has never been marketed properly causing it to end up in a mire. Producers are needed in the business just as much as artists so we have to find a way to survive."

Well taken David, with this in mind support our Caribbean shows and purchase legal music. In turn, we hope Dancehall artistes create good quality production that is deserving of our dollars. The Genesis Riddim was premiered on Hot 97 by Bobby Konders and Jabba last week. Other markets will get to preview the release in strategic markets in coming weeks.

Craig Harrisngh added "While we are realistic about the numbers we expect to do, we have to take a stance and try and regulate our ting, "We are also expecting it to leak as soon as it is available, perhaps even before, but for us this is about trying to make a difference. We hope every producer takes a look at what we are trying to achieve and does something about it too so we can help change the culture of how we market and sell our music, because we are all feeling it. Thats why we called the riddim Genesis, because for us and we hope for the business as a whole, it signals a new beginning."

Raine Seville: Lasting Impression on US MEDIA

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Singing sensation Raine Seville recently returned to Jamaica after a whirlwind two weeks of promotion in New York, USA.

DASECA's first lady found herself in the 'Big Apple' to support fellow DASECA-member Serani at the launch of his debut album No Games at the SOB club in New York. While there the singer made great strides when she met key figures in the US entertainment scene. The singer soon after hit the streets and did a number of interviews with the US media, leaving a lasting impression in the minds of many.

Raine elaborated on her time there saying, "Wow it was an amazing trip, one of my first interviews was with Tempo. They did a mini artiste feature with me so that people could get more familiar with Raine Seville. I was also the host of an episode of their weekly 'Cross Caribbean Countdown' - where they show the top ten hottest videos from the Caribbean - my video Slippery When Wet being one of the ten. The interviewer was pleased to tell me how honored he was to meet me because when he first saw my videos who was like, 'who is this girl? She is amazing; I love her videos'."

Raine will be performing at their 'Tempo Turns 4' celebration in Grenada this December.

Next up on Raine's list while overseas, was an appearance on diva Nikki Z's 'Caribbean Vibes' show on Irie Jamz as a part of her new artiste feature. "I also went over to New Jersey for an interview on 'Road Block Radio' where I was interviewed by Chiney K. That interview was great; I got the opportunity to promote some new songs like Break Away along with the known ones like Drive Me Crazy and Belly Wine. The feedback was great so many people called in complimenting me on my voice, my videos and motivating me to keep focused," Raine explained.

From there it was on to Royale Radio with well-known Brooklyn disc jock DJ Alley Cat; it was quite the experience for the singer. She said, "I was very impressed with him because usually I give all DJs a copy of my promo CD but when I saw his play list he already had every Raine Seville track. He was like 'girl I don't need your CD I got all your songs, I'm a big fan'. He started out the interview by saying, 'the first time I heard her voice on Drive Me Crazy I immediately fell in love. I called Johnny Wonder up and asked him who is this girl her voice is amazing', and he has been following my career ever since."

Other interviews included Right Vibes Radio and an all access feature on Carivibez.tv.

The singer also managed to impress Alicia Keys' manager, Jeff Robinson after they met. In fact, Robinson's music partner, Sean Lashley was ready to voice the singer. However, because of time constraints, the singer returned to the island, but will be back in New York to voice and do even more press.

After a successful year, Raine has no intentions of slowing down - she has a slew of new material which will be released this Christmas and for the new year. One such single, is the new, Break Away on Chimney Records' 'World Premiere' rhythm. Also coming soon is her steamy collaboration with Tony Matterhorn called Love You're Looking For, which shows a raunchier side of the singer.

Also this Christmas, singjay Bugle and Raine will be releasing their highly-anticipated duet entitled Reserve, which is produced by their DASECA camp. A video for the song will be shot shortly after and will be directed by famed local producer Jay Will. In January 2010 also expect a collaboration with one of Reggae's hottest artistes, Konshens, in addition to as songs produced by ZJ Sparks, Leftside, DASECA and DJ Nicco, on his 'Daredevil' rhythm.

  • Raine has also been nominated for 'Best Female Video' for her Slippery When Wet video at the 'Carivibez Video Web Awards'. So far Raine has a clear lead; but persons can vote for her by clicking here. Voting ends on December 24th. To get new single, Sign up here
