BUZz: Mavado Shoot Video Immediately After European Tour

Thursday, March 3, 2011

Caribbean Lifestyle Media:  Mavado recently shot the video for one of his latest singles, "StarBwoy".  The video was directed by Winston "Tyson" Mayhew at the location where he keeps his Stulla Wednesdays-Starlight Club and the Altomont Court Hotel in New Kgn.

Also on set was Fambo, Ding Dong, Macka Diamond, Nefatari, and Chase Cross. Mavado was recently in Europe on a 8 city tour with Chase Cross and Stacious.  In German Mavado rocked the house at the Amsterdam Reggae Festival. "Its my third tour of Europe and it just gets better, its always a joy to see people from all nations in the crowd who's first language is not English singing along to my songs. Its a great feeling and inspires me to continue making great music. Life on the road can be tough, you have to just condition your mind and get physically fit because its just traveling and shows day after day. Its a joy to see the people's reaction out there 7,000 miles away from mi yard so its something I love doing."

Manager Julian told us, "This tour we ventured into markets Mavado hasnt played before, Promoters in Helsinki, Finland, said it was the biggest Dancehall show ever there. The Stockholm and Copenhagen shows were also very well attended and the crowds were full of energy. These shows were on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights so to see Dancehall music getting that support so far from its epicentre is encouraging."

Look out for the new video from StarBwoy which should be coming out soon.

JUST IN: ALLIANCE not in UK this weekend

Saturday, December 19, 2009

Caribbean Lifestyle Media-recently learned that members of the Alliance camp was booked for events in United Kingdom but promoters did not follow through with their obligations. According to Alliance management, "Due to the inability of the promoter to fulfill anywhere near their contractual obligations we regret to announce to our UK-based fans that Mavado and Serani will not be appearing at the advertised shows in Coventry on Saturday night, nor at the Stratford Rex on Sunday night. We gave the promoters, Yard and Abroad and Lloydie Peck, every opportunity up to the eleventh hour to make it happen and they simply failed. We have worked with Yard and Abroad on two previous occasions and have never had a problem, so we are baffled as to the events that have unfolded."

As you may imagine, many fans were looking forward to this event taking place. In response to this, Alliance stated "We have received many emails, calls and texts over recent weeks from the UK that thousands of fans were looking forward to the shows, which also featured Assassin and Flippa Mafia, so we know the disappointment of the fans matches ours. I can say categorically that the exact same situation has befallen Assassin and Flippa."

Mavado and Serani were prepared for the show as management stated that their work visas were issued. Management confirmed for us that "They both want their fans to know that they tried to hold out until the last minute with every hope and prayer to make these shows but it was not to happen".

Buzz: Alliance respond to Vybz Kartel

Saturday, December 5, 2009

Caribbean Lifestyle Media learned from the Alliance camp that Vybz Kartel's recent decision to reach out to Mavado for a show of unity-may have been a little to late. Earlier we reported that Mavado wanted peace-Vybz Kartel declined. Alliance Camp stated that "After previously extending an invitation to Vybz Kartel to attend Mavado's Birthday Bash, that he declined, we are glad to see that he has now seen the light and recognises the need for a show of unity at this time, albeit when the realisation has now dawned that it seems the artists will not be allowed to perform in Jamaica until this issue is resolved. This was exactly what we were trying to pre-empt with our invitation to Vybz Kartel to attend the party."

Caribbean Lifestyle Media continues to explore the depths of this controversy, we believe that at this point it is beyond the artistes. In an attempt to quell the unsteady mood in Kingston, Jamaica; it appears that many of Jamaica's "bigger heads" are now involved. Alliance camp indicated that there continues to be dialogue in this recent bulletin sent out to Caribbean Lifestyle Media:

Mavado and I [Julian-manager] recently met with Bishop Herro Blair in which we put forth the idea of a peace march headed by Mavado and Vybz Kartel from Cassava Piece/Big Yard right to Half Way Tree or to Stadium where both could perhaps give a unification performance on stage together. This message of peace would be compounded by a "paint-out day," ridding communities of the Gully/Gaza graffiti that now decorates many a wall and zinc fence, with the artists also taking part. We also think a tangible message of peace could come in the form of a peace record. We put this latter proposition to Minister Babsy Grange who took the idea one step further, suggesting that Artists who have feuded over the decades could take part in this record - Bounty/Beenie, Ninja/Shabba, Stitchie/San etc which we accord is an excellent idea.

In light of recent events and with the intervention at the very highest levels of the security forces and the Government, Mavado and I have been summoned to a meeting early next week. We are not permitted to say at this time with whom we are meeting but we believe that Vybz Kartel will also be in attendance. We are heartened that Vybz Kartel is now prepared to move forward with a positive intent and we expect a plan of action to be formulated at this meeting.

Alliance: Makes the Rounds

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Weekend gone was Heroes Weekend in Jamaica and some of the Alliance
"giants" were out in full force representing the current generation
of Jamaican Heroes.

Serani, debut album No Games dropping next Tuesday the 27th, was the
special guest at a special media all-weekend event organised by Jet
Blue. The airline had invited 150 media, bloggers and tastemakers on
a "Jet Blue Mystery Tour," where by the invitees turn up at the
airport unaware of their destination until the last minute. All
guests were put up at the luxurious Iberostar Grand Hotel in
Rosehall, Montego Bay, the Jamaican city that Jet Blue has just
started to fly to.

Guests were treated to a 5 star weekend, culminating at an All-White
party on the Sandals Cay island off the Mobay coastline, with Serani
as the surprise guest. About a minute into his performance a
rainstorm blasted the island but Serani used it to his advantage and
jumped into the crowd and had everyone doing the "call down the rain"
dance. The vibes were unforgettable and were only stopped because the
rain damaged the mic and he could sing no more, but his performance
won him many fans and will certainly garner him great media coverage
for his album release on October 27.

Later the same night, Gully Gad Mavado was in town for the Footprints
beach party that also starred Soulja Boy, Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel and
Flippa. The show didn't get the greatest of turnouts, the gate price
of $3000 probably played a part in that, but Mavado gave the
performance of the night hands down. He showed love to the Gully and
to all the Gaza fans, making them quickly forget their Gaza
allegiance and won them over with his huge catalogue of hits, past
and present.

During his set Gully Squad members Chase Cross, Stein and Flexxx, who
is rapidly making a name for himself in the Dancehall world, helped
keep the level of vibes sky-high.

Flexxx recently shot a video for his single "Fresh" with famed
director Jay Will that should hit small screens within weeks.

Bounty Killer records “Love this Life” with Haile Selassie relative‏

Monday, September 21, 2009

Alliance CEO Rodney Price AKA Bounty Killer has recently recorded a remix for songstress Sheba Sahlemariam single “Love this Lifetime.”Sheba, the cousin of Emperor Haile Selassie, did the single late this year and could not see a more perfect fit to remix this single than the Ground God himself.

Showing a different side of Mr. Price it once again underlines his versatility.Bounty’s inclusion on the single has brought renewed excitement to the project, with Sheba now in Jamaica to shoot the video for the single.“Jay Will is director of the Love this Life,” said Sheba. “I know he is going to make a big statement with this video as he has done with so many before. We are hoping it is going to revolutionize how videos are done and with the incorporation of Mr. Price we are looking forward to the end product.”The video was completed over the weekend and will be ready to air in the coming weeks.

ALLIANCE set things straight!

Thursday, August 20, 2009

In light of Beenie Man's recent comments regarding his "invitation" for the Alliance to perform at his show this Saturday we just wanted to balance a couple of issues..... "Beenie himself came to me at Champions in Action and asked me if the artists would be available for his show," said Alliance management's Julian Jones-Griffith. "I'm not sure why he is saying he sent someone to ask me when he himself came to me. And genuinely every artist will be off the island this weekend. I'm in Japan right now with Mavado, Killer and Serani will also be away. A member of Beenie's promotional team contacted my office a couple of months ago asking if Serani would be available but he was already booked in advance.

There was no request for Killer or Mavado back then and when Beenie asked me on Saturday they were already contracted for overseas engagements. So for him to say we 'refused' his invitation to unity is putting a negative spin on the situation to say the least." Cynics are saying Beenie is just using this ploy as part of the intense damage control media campaign both he and Vybz Kartel have undertaken since they were unceremniously booed at Champions in Action. Beenie Man, who did a song called "Gaza mi Seh," declared himself the Gaza Emperor and counteracted Mavado's Mock and Toast is now insisting he isnt saying Gully or Gaza he's saying "Jamaica" and calling for unity. Thats an admirable thing to do, but why the sudden change of heart......in the run-up to his show? And as for the accusation that the Alliance carried people to Champions to boo Beenie is laughable and not worth another word.

They got booed at one stage show and have spent the days since then having their publicists running around like headless chickens with denials, accusations and distractions. Its not that big of a deal but they are only damaging themselves by drawing it out for days like this. The Alliance sends its congratulations to Usain Bolt, Shely Anne Fraser, Brigitte Foster-Hylton and the rest of the Jamaican athletes that have captured the imagination of the world with their supreme performances in Berlin. And all the best to Beenie with his show.

CHAMPIONS IN ACTION THIS SATURDAY‏

Monday, August 10, 2009

As the smoke clears form the Dream Weekend in Negril, the focus move to this Saturday's staging of Champions in Action at Jamworld in Portmore. With a line-up that many are lauding as better than Sumfest, the inclusion of Sizzla, Capleton, Anthony B and others is a calculated move on behalf of the promoters."Our show is not just about who's hot and who's hype" said the Presidential Click spokesperson. "Champions in Action is a showcase of the best in Dancehall and Reggae talent over the years so we've included artists that have proved they can deliver a catalogue of hits for the patrons."A lot of anticipation is also surrounding Bounty Killer's appearance, after his show-stealing performance at Sumfest. His musical son, Dancehall's superstar international flag-bearer Mavado, is sure to repeat his fiery set at last year's Champions in Action.

The Doctor Beenie Man is a perennial crowd favourite and will have the crowd unmoved until he closes the show. Local high-riding DJ Vybz Kartel's legion of fans will have the opportunity to catch him live at Jamworld and he is sure to deliver. With the likes of Elephant Man, Etana, Assassin, I-Wayne, Queen Ifrika, Andrew & Wada Blood and much more also on the bill, Champions in Action is perhaps the most complete stage show of recent times. As usual a chunk of the proceeds will go towards the West Kingston back-to-school treat, for the children of the inner-city communities in that region, regardless of political persuasion, another positive reason to support this historic event. All this for just $1000! The Alliance Crew was in Connecticut for New England Music Festival (Click here to See pictures)

Alliance "On da Reggae Tip,"

Saturday, August 1, 2009

Alliance Entertainment is proud to announce the confirmation of its 3 superstar artists for this year's "On da Reggae Tip," the annual Reggae show promoted by New York's #1 radio station for Hip Hop, R n B and Reggae!

Held every year at the Hammerstein Ballroom, its been 3 years since Bounty Killer graced the stage and the anticipation for the return of the "Ground God" is already immense, especially after his show-stealing performance at this year's Sumfest. With the world buzzing over the Killer's return to form, hes sure to make a big impact at Reggae Tip.

Mavado is still riding the wave of his incredible success, that shows no signs of slowing down since he burst on to the scene four years ago. Adored by people of all backgrounds and nations, Mavado scored big on HOT 97 earlier this year with his anthemic "So Special" and is currently Jamaica's #1 musical export worldwide. Mavado made a triumphant return to New York at last year's Reggae Tip when Wylcef Jean called him on as a surprise guest and the Hammerstein's roof nearly caved in.

Both Mavado and Serani were a big success at HOT 97's Summer Jam show earlier this year in front of 50,000 people that also featured Jay Z, Mary J Blige, Busta Rhymes among others. Serani's phenomenal rise continues to happen as he carries his sound across the US. His new single "She Loves Me" is already in rotation on HOT 97, with other stations adding it daily.

Alliance steals the show‏

Monday, July 27, 2009

Calls, texts and emails have been pouring in from around the world
with the news that "Bounty Killer tek Sumfest." From the moment the
MC introduced Bounty the huge crowd illuminated Catherine Hall with
torches and lighters. From start to finish the 5 Star General
received nothing but love from everyone present, wether Gully or Gaza.
With some speeches that connected with the hearts and minds of all in
attendance at Sumfest's Dancehall night, coupled with scorching
intros and lyrical delivery, it was Bounty Killer at his supreme best
when many were hoping he would fail.
"A me mek Gully and a me mek Gaza, a me own the plaza" said Bounty in
his inimitable way. "See Michael come dead and dem a big him up, me
want my own when me alive, a me a di man who start it!" he added as
the crowd saluted him in unison.

"Certain artists in this business are like columns," said one patron.
"Bounty Killer is a column and he proved that tonight. Killer a di
boss! Nobody did a look fi Grung Gad tek the show over everyone else
but thats exactly what he did!"
Displaying a maturity and insight befitting of an icon of his
stature, Bounty's performance will be remembered for years to come.
Towards the end of his set he also called on upcoming DJ Wasp who
received huge forwards for the 2 songs he performed before leaving
Bounty to bring the house down with "Just mek a duppy wid mi nine" on
the Sixteen riddim.

Up next on the Anger Management band was Dancehall megastar Mavado,
fresh from being bestowed with another accolade from the Urban Music
Awards. Mavado proved he is in the elite of Dancehall legends after
only 4 years in the limelight, a feat achieved by very few. Catherine
Hall was packed with Gully fans and Mavado was given a huge reception
as he stepped out, that continued throughout his performance.

Gully God released hit after hit from his astonishingly deep
catalogue, before calling out Flex on the Movie Star riddim. Flex
underlined his status as one of the real upcoming talents as the
crowd roared their approval for his "Swear and I will never" track.
Next up was Einstein who's "Get Gal Easy" was received well. Chase
Cross stepped out on the Clearance riddim, proving "who's next from
the Gully." The audience simply went wild. Mavado raised the
temperature with "Money Nuff," exiting the stage before the audience
demanded he return for one more explosion, which he delivered with
Again and Again.

Earlier Alliance affiliate Kip Rich also rocked the crowd, garnering
him plenty of plaudits from the audience and media.

As the Alliance juggernaut rolls on to James Bond Beach Sunday for
Fully Loaded, the world is left saluting Bounty Killer's performance
and his legacy of giving life to the next generation of Dancehall
stars such as Mavado, Elephant Man, Busy Signal and Vybz Kartel to
prominence.
