Wednesday, September 9, 2009

After several close encounter on reggae singles and album Charts locally the sexy and sophisticated singer / songwriter Sophia Brown is this week celebrating her very first # 1 ranking having topped the FIWI Choice Top 20 local Charts.

Brown who occupied the # 2 spot behind the fast rising singjay I Octane last week, says she had been watching the charts closely in anticipation of a possible move. "I'm truly grateful to all of those who support me by voting for my song "Weak To You". I really feel blessed to finally get a # 1 and it just goes to show that hard work and commitment will take you to the top no matter what, yes i've gotten in the Top Ten before but this one is really special, its the icing on the cake".

Brown who is the C.E.O of Music Mecka Records a label she formed earlier in her career also noted that her achievements to date was not attributed to one single individual but that of her team who continues to represent her through thick and thin. "I have a solid team that has brought me from where I was to where I currently am, persons like Syl Gordon of Cell Block Music Group, Errol Smith, my Publicists Chris Campbell & Claude Mills and a special thanks to Tony Gold who assisted me in studios while I was working on my album The Spotlight".

The FIWI Choice Top 20 Charts which allows the public to cast votes for their favorite Dancehall / Reggae singles can be regarded as the true test of an artists fan base as voters are not limited to a single vote. Much like the popular TV show Rising Stars the public has total control over the outcome.
